The drive from Ndhovu Safari Lodge to the Okavango Panhandle Heliport takes about 2 hours, including the border crossing.
Lift off from the Okavango Panhandle Heliport and experience the awe-inspiring views of the panhandle region from above. In an area of permanent water, you’re guaranteed to see the infamous snaking waterways and channels, with the opportunity to witness wildlife in their natural habitats. Once landed, a boat will await you to take you to your game-drive vehicle in the heart of the remote Okavango Delta bushveld. Your game drive will commence between 09:30 and 10:00 and will continue until around 15:00. The untamed beauty of the Jumbo Junction concession offers large concentrations of wildlife year-round, where you can expect to experience a diversity of wildlife encounters. Included in the game drive is a bush stop in a secluded area, where you will be provided with a delicious lunch, cool drinks and a bottled water. You will make your way back to the helicopter and head back to the heliport, where you will once again get to marvel at the deep channels that provide home to a host of species.
The optional 30 minute doors off scenic allows you to explore further into otherwise unreachable areas with the unique perspective of having doors removed for that entirely unrestricted view.
Itinerary Summary
Day 1: Embark on a Delta Adventure :Begin your journey at Ndhovu Lodge with an early morning drive and transfer to Swamp Stop Lodge. From here, your Delta adventure begins.
At 10:00 AM, hop on a scenic boat transfer across the iconic Okavango Panhandle, soaking in the sights of the serene waterways and abundant birdlife. Arrive in the charming village of Seronga and be whisked away to Jumbo Junction, your gateway to the Delta wilderness, arriving just in time for a refreshing welcome and a hearty lunch (13:00).
At 14:00, set off on an unforgettable boat cruise through the intricate Delta channels, gliding past lush vegetation and wildlife. Stop for an immersive bush walk and traditional mokoro experience, truly connecting with the heart of the Delta.
Reach your Bush Camp around 16:30, where a magical sundowner dinner awaits. Savour your meal as the sun dips below the horizon, painting the Delta in hues of gold and crimson. As night falls, venture into the wild on an exhilarating Night Safari Drive (18:00 – 22:00). Discover the secrets of nocturnal life, with the chance to spot elusive predators and other creatures under the stars. End your day with a peaceful sleep at the Bush Camp, surrounded by the sounds of the Delta.
Day 2: Sunrise Safari and Sky-High Adventure
Wake up to the call of the wild and depart on an early-morning game drive (06:00 / 06:30). Witness the Delta’s magic as the sun rises, with opportunities to see predators on the prowl and herds moving across the plains.
Pause mid-morning for a delightfully packed breakfast in the bush (around 09:30) as you revel in the untouched beauty of your surroundings.
Return to Jumbo Junction by midday for a delicious lunch (12:30 – 13:30) to refuel after your morning adventures.
The thrill doesn’t stop there! At 14:00, take to the skies with a spectacular helicopter transfer from Jumbo Junction to Helicopter Horizons Sepupa Helipad.
Soar over the Delta’s breath-taking mosaic of waterways, islands, and wildlife for an unparalleled bird’s-eye view of this natural wonder. From the helipad, complete your journey, with a road transfer back to Ndhovu Safari Lodge, reflecting on two days of unforgettable Delta exploration and adventure.
The Mahango Park is only about 10 minutes away from our lodge and is therefore also very good for half-day trips. We accompany you in our safari cars and bring you closer to the flora and fauna.
A wild and exciting place, with great opportunities for elephant and, as the name implies, to meet buffalo. Arrived by boat on the shore, we will pick you up for a breathtaking experience. The day trip including food not only offers a wonderful wildlife, the history of the park itself is worth listening to.
